When it comes to the sneaker game, Kanye West's new Nike shoes are kicking major butt.
After a pair of Nike Air Yeezy 2 sneakers designed by the rapper went for $90,300 on eBay Wednesday, West's shoes hit stores Saturday.
And not even a whopping retail price of $375 could keep sneakerheads from lining up to snap up the kicks.
Undefeated boutique in Los Angeles was one of the stores selling pairs of West's shoes today, and the store's 18 pairs of sneakers up for grabs had fans camped outside since Monday night.
Christian San Juan, manager at the L.A. store, explained the hype as: "Kanye West has a lot of influence on these kids. Air Yeezy 1 was just as bad, [but] the Air Yeezy 2 was actually more limited than the last one.
"We've been getting calls for past couple months, this week, I estimate 40 calls per hour up till today, we didn't want anyone to line up until we got confirmation, and once we heard from Nike on Tuesday morning, as soon as we found out, we let the public go, people were here anticipating."
And it didn't look like campers minded the wait.
Joseph Gonzalez, a dedicated consumer who traveled from Las Vegas for the shoe, shared: "I've been here since Monday night, the first night I was posted up cause they didn't know if they had the shoe or not, but Tuesday came around, I've been camped out right here on the street."
So why is Gonzalez so keen on the footwear? "Everyone knows Kanye West is the first person who isn't an athlete to have a show with Nike," he explains.
And the fact that they're selling for thousands of dollars on eBay can't hurt either.
