Judge OK's Sizemore Work Order

Life might just be looking up for troubled actor Tom Sizemore.

A judge in Los Angeles has agreed to let him take a job out-of-state in spite of his pending prison sentence for roughing up former Hollywood Madam Heidi Fleiss.

The Black Hawk Down star will still have to serve 90 days in jail as a result of his 2003 conviction on seven counts of domestic abuse.

But the ruling clears the way for Sizemore to sign up for duty on Dr. Vegas a new TV series opposite Rob Lowe that will require him to shoot scenes in Nevada and Canada.

During the Tuesday hearing, Judge Antonio Barreto commended the actor for cleaning up his act and dedicating himself to being drug free. (Sizemore went through rehab for substance abuse in September.)

The new clean-and-sober Sizemore, whose credits include Natural Born Killers, True Romance and Saving Private Ryan, is a far cry from the drug-addled Heidi Fleiss abuser of old. During his trial, Fleiss tearfully took the stand and told the courts that her former boyfriend repeatedly bullied, beat and choked her during their on- and off-again relationship.

Sizemore got hauled back into court in February regarding the case. Judge Barreto had to remind him to steer clear of his ex gal-pal, part of the terms of his conviction. Fleiss claimed the Saving Private Ryan star had contacted her to ask to help get him off the hook and keep him out of prison.

And it's still not exactly smooth legal sailing for Sizemore, in spite of Tuesday's ruling. He's also facing a lawsuit from a former personal assistant who says he repeatedly propositioned her for sex while she worked for him.

Additionally, he's due back in court later this year on a misdemeanor battery charge for allegedly punching an unidentified woman (who told police she was engaged to the actor) during an argument at his home. Sizemore's camp has denied she was his fiancée and portrayed the actor as the victim of a shakedown.

In spite of all of his legal woes, Sizemore's pals say he's not a bad guy and deserves a break. Al Pacino's pop Sal showed up in court Tuesday to support his buddy. "I've known him in the past and he's always been good to me, so I thought I'd return the favor," he told reporters.

Fleiss, meanwhile, is also continuing to make headlines herself. She is currently the subject of an unauthorized USA Networks biography about her life called Call Me: The Rise and Fall of Heidi Fleiss, starring Sopranos star Jamie-Lynn DiScala.

The show premiered Monday to fairly scalding reviews. But just ask Heidi: there is no bad publicity.
