Jude Law Divorcing
It's an early frost for Jude Law's marriage.
The Oscar-nominated Brit is making his split with wife Sadie Frost official, with the couple divorcing after nearly five years, three children and one booming film career.
"They are in discussions to reach an amicable decision at this time," Law's rep Simon Halls told E! on Thursday.
In a statement, Frost said she has "very reluctantly [come] to the decision that my marriage to Jude is over."
"We have agreed that divorce is the only way forward, but we have equally agreed that we will do everything in our power to make certain that this is as painless a process as possible for the benefit of the children," she said.
Law, 30, and Frost, 35, are parents jointly to daughter Iris, 2, and sons Rafferty, 7, and Rudy, 11 months. Frost also has a son, Finley, from a previous marriage to Gary Kemp of the 1980s pop outfit Spandau Ballet.
The past year has been a rough one for the Law-Frost brood. Last September, Frost gave birth prematurely to baby boy Rudy. In October, the couple's daughter was rushed to a hospital after downing an ecstasy tablet found on the floor of a London club during a children's party.
Law and Frost separated in January, the same month Frost battled back denounced rumors of a suicide attempt by revealing she was being treated for postpartum depression.
In March, a British tab claimed the marriage had been sunk by Nicole Kidman, whom, it was alleged, had an affair with Law during the filming of their Civil War epic, Cold Mountain. Last month, Kidman won a "substantial" judgment and an apology from the Daily Mail for the repudiated story.
Law and Frost met in 1994 on the set of nihilistic teen drama Shopping. At the time, both were up-and-coming British actors, with the older Frost the more established of the two.
By the time they wed, in September 1997, Law was crossing over to Hollywood, with a costarring role in the sci-fi thriller Gattaca. He went on to secure leading-man status in Enemy at the Gates and A.I. He earned a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination for 1999's The Talented Mr. Ripley.
Even as his star rose, Law and Frost continued to work together in films such as Bent, and in their production company, Natural Nylon, with fellow U.K. natives Ewan McGregor and Jonny Lee Miller, Angelina Jolie's first husband.
Natural Nylon, like the Law-Frost marriage, unraveled. Law severed his ties with the company in January.
Law will next be seen on the big screen in Cold Mountain, due out at Christmas. Frost was last seen on the little screen in the British TV series The Fear.
