J.Lo Married to "Monster" Movie

Jennifer Lopez is a natural for the next role she's considering: a woman engaged to the perfect guy.

After all, she is the future Mrs. Ben Affleck.

Problem is, this new Prince Charming comes with some baggage. (No, not Matt Damon.)

According to the trades, Lopez is in talks to play a blissful bride-to-be whose perfect wedding plans fall apart when she meets her disapproving mother-in-law in New Line Cinema's romantic comedy Monster-in-Law.

(By all accounts, Ben Affleck's mother approves of her son's fiancée. At least until now.)

New Line, which outbid several studios for the movie rights in February, has yet to announce a start date for the movie. A director also has to be found before J.Lo can start humming "The Wedding March."

That's fine, because the Wedding Planner star has her hands full at the moment. The Bronx-born babe will grace movie theaters opposite her beau Ben this summer in Gigli, which hits theaters July 30, then again when the two play newlyweds in Kevin Smith's Jersey Girl, slated for a February 2004 release.

Also in 2004, Lopez will appear in director Lasse Hallström's drama An Unfinished Life opposite Robert Redford, the English-language remake of the Japanese romantic comedy Shall We Dance? opposite Richard Gere, and the thriller Tick Tock with Samuel L. Jackson. Then there's a disputed pitch Lopez recently made to Universal Pictures to star in a big-screen adaptation of the opera Carmen. (She's being sued by her Wedding Planner director for stealing the idea.)

And, presumably, there's a real-life wedding to plan at some point.
