J.Lo Got Glow

Smells like star power.

Jennifer Lopez has settled a trademark infringement lawsuit over the name of her fragrance, Glow by J.Lo.

Glow Industries had raised a stink in August 2002, about a month before J.Lo's perfume, distributed by Coty Inc., hit shelves.

The company, which sells lotions, candles and other scented products, including perfume, under the Glow brand, accused Lopez and her perfume purveyor partner of stealing its trademarked name.

However, Lopez's attorneys argued that customers were unlikely to confuse the two brands since Glow sold its scented wares in specialty shops whereas Glow by J.Lo was targeted at teen mall rats.

But both parties have since agreed to an undisclosed settlement, announced Wednesday. (Don't worry, La Lopez can afford it. Glow brought in more than $40 million internationally last year.)

Under the agreement Glow Industries gets to use the Glow mark on its bath, body care and fragrance products during a limited transition period while Lopez will also continue to own and use the Glow by J.Lo mark for her fragrance and related products.

In the meantime, the business-minded babe has released another scent, Still Jennifer Lopez, with the timely tagline: "In the eye of the storm, I am still Jennifer Lopez."

While the media blitz continues to rage around her and on-again, off-again beau Ben Affleck--Us Weekly has them eloping to the denials of their reps--J.Lo's professional storm has blown over since the release of this year's stinker, Gigli (unlike Ben, whose Disney movie, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, was just nixed in part because of his tarnished image).

Jenny from the Block has announced she'll coproduce a daytime talk show, which will feature her sister, radio and television personality Lynda Lopez, as one of the daily hosts. J.Lo's even planning on dropping by occasionally.

How much her schedule allows for set visits largely depends on the success of her upcoming movies.

On the plus side, Lopez is in postproduction on her upcoming film Shall We Dance? with the bankable Richard Gere. Other projects in the works for 2004 include An Unfinished Life, opposite Robert Redford and Morgan Freeman, both box-office draws in their own rights. J.Lo is also in talks to star in New Line Cinema's forthcoming flick Monster-in-Law.

But first, she'll have to weather her next co-venture with Affleck, Kevin Smith's Jersey Girl, in March 2004. Ben and Jen were reportedly pulled from the flick's publicity shots so as to dissociate it from bad Gigli buzz.

Better make room on the chat-show couch.
