Jersey Cops: Foxy Lied
Unlike her namesake animal, Foxy Brown was apparently anything but sly during her latest run-in with police.
The oft-troubled rapper is facing more court time after allegedly giving false information to New Jersey cops who pulled her over for blowing through a stop sign.
Brown, whose real name is Inga Marchand, was cruising around the township of Mahwah last Wednesday when police observed the 27-year-old emcee talking on a cell phone and failing to bring her SUV to a complete halt at an intersection, said Lieutenant Detective Martin Clancy of the Mahwah Township Police Department..
Officers stopped her 2007 Land Rover, ran a DMV search of the vehicle and discovered that the registration had been suspended.
"They then asked Brown for her license, registration and insurance and she replied that she had left the documents at home," Clancy told E! Online.
The officers requested the rapper write down her full name and date of birth. But she misspelled her name and listed an incorrect date of birth.
When police were unable to find any record of her, the rapper fessed up and gave her correct information, Clancy said. A second database search revealed she was driving with a suspended license.
Brown, who has a residence in Bergen County, New Jersey, was taken into custody for giving false information to a police officer. She was then transported to a police station and issued seven motor vehicle summonses and released on her own recognizance.
Brown's attorney, John Sampson could not be reached for comment. A Mahwah Municipal Court date has been set for Sept. 4.
News of the "Get Me Home" hip-hopster's latest arrest comes at the same time the New York Post is reporting some good news for a change—that Brown is expecting her first child and plans on getting hitched in the near future.
"I'm getting married in September. I'm pregnant," the paper quoted Brown telling fellow customers during a shopping trip to a midtown Manhattan Bed Bath & Beyond.
There was no official confirmation from the Brown camp, and the identity of her would-be husband remains a mystery. But if word of her pregnancy is true, Brown has good reason to stay out of trouble.
Between the New Jersey arrest and a bust for allegedly beaning a neighbor with a BlackBerry, Brown could be facing some serious time behind bars.
The rapper is serving three years' probation for a 2004 attack on two manicurists in a billing dispute at a Manhattan beauty salon.
Brown faced revocation of her probation earlier this year after getting booted from anger management for alleged threatening a staffer and then for traveling without court permission to Florida and getting collared for assaulting a beauty shop employee and resisting arrest.
Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Melissa Jackson resisted locking up Brown for those transgressions, but has said she would reconsider if Brown got in trouble again.
That was before the July 30 BlackBerry incident. Brown is facing charges of felony assault, menacing, harassment and criminal possession of a weapon. A hearing in that case is set for Sept. 26.
Meanwhile, Brown is free to reportedly shop for the nursery and finish cooking another baby, her next album, Brooklyn's Don Diva, due out Dec. 1.
