"Jeopardy" Jennings Can't Lose

Someone get Stephen Hawking on the set of Jeopardy!--and fast.

Ken Jennings, the seemingly unbeatable 30-year-old software engineer, has, as of Friday's episode, earned $1,321,660 during his nearly two-month record-breaking turn on the popular quiz show.

He won his 38th straight game on Friday, winning in impressive style by setting a one-day Jeopardy! record of $75,000. (The previous single-day mark was $52,000.)

And his run isn't ending anytime soon.

Friday's installment marked Jeopardy!'s season finale, meaning KenJen fans (and foes) will have to wait until the syndicated show begins its 21st season on Sept. 6 to see if Jennings will finally run out of answers or, to be precise, questions.

As the show's famously pompous ringmaster Alex Trebek mused Friday, "Will it never end for this talented young man?"

The Utah native has blown past the previous Jeopardy! win streak, set last January by Tom Walsh, who racked up $184,900 during a comparatively measly seven-show run.

According to TVgameshows.net, Jenning's 38th straight win moved the game show star du jour into second place on the all-time total games won list in television history, just five short of the 43 players defeated in 46 days by Thom McKee on Tic Tac Dough in 1980. And Jennings is in fourth place in total money won.

But Jennings will need to seriously hit the books to catch up with all-time game-show prize king Kevin Olmstead, who won $2.2 million on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? in 2002.

Not that anyone at Sony Pictures Television is complaining about the big payouts; ratings are up 50 percent since Jennings began making himself at home in Trebek's palace of humiliation.

The reigning champion has also become a reluctant celebrity, making the late-night rounds with Jay Leno and David Letterman and being named ABC News Person of the Week in recent days. He even inspired a KenJen Drinking Game on Slate.com (chug every time he goofs).

But we're guessing not many people are getting loaded by playing the drinking game: Jennings has answered 44 of 46 questions correctly, according to TVgameshows.net, while beating 76 challengers since beginning his winning streak nearly two months ago.
