Jennifer's Baby Beals
Oh, what a feeling!
Former Flashdancer Jennifer Beals delivered her first child, a baby girl, last month, it was announced Friday.
The Beals brood is mum on specifics, including the baby's exact birthdate, name and vital statistics, but her publicist tells People magazine that "the family is very happy and Jennifer and the baby are doing great."
Though it's the couple's first child together, it's not the first stork delivery for Beals' husband, Ken L. Dixon. The Canadian film technician has two children from a previous marriage.
The camera-ready couple tied the knot in 1998, marking the second march down the aisle for both.
From 1986 to 1998, Beals, 41, was married to filmmaker Alexandre Rockwell. They worked together in 1992's critically acclaimed dramedy In the Soup, which won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival.
Beals first rose to fame in Adrian Lyne's 1983 smash Flashdance, playing an exotic-dancing welder who sets her sights on joining a dance company. She has since starred in more than 40 films, including Devil in a Blue Dress, The Last Days of Disco and The Anniversary Party.
The new mama currently stars in Showtime's lesbian-centric drama, The L Word, which is in production on its third season.
