Jay Leno's Ratings Are Sick, Too

Whatever's ailing Jay Leno, it's definitely not Nielsen-related.
Last night's Tonight Show rerun, hastily aired when a hospitalized Leno took his first sick day in 17 late-night-hosting years, beat out an all-new David Letterman, NBC reported. Leno's margin of victory in the nation's top TV markets was a sizable 15 percent.
Leno's feeling better and supposed to be out of the hospital today, but Letterman should watch out anyway: Another Tonight Show rerun is scheduled for tonight.
Elsewhere on a big, May sweeps-opening Thursday:.
• At 9 p.m., the returning Grey's Anatomy (13.2 million) seemed to put a good wallop into CSI (14.5 million), which nonetheless was the night's most-watched show. Grey's was the No. 1 show among adults 18-49.
• At 10 p.m., the returning Private Practice (9.2 million) seemed to put a good wallop into Southland (8 million).
• With so much competition, several otherwise solid shows were off their game compared to last week, including Bones (8.2 million), The Office (7.2 million), Hell's Kitchen (6.8 million) and 30 Rock (6.3 million).
• My Name Is Earl gave Parks and Recreation a bigger lead-in than last week (5.5 million, up from 5.4 million), and then Parks and Recreation went out and lost it, slipping to 5.2 million viewers.
• Survivor: Tocantins (11.4 million) was about even with last week. Smallville (3.1 million) and Supernatural (2.8 million) were about even with their season averages
