Jadakiss Pinched for Possession
It's not exactly the Kiss of Death, but it still won't do him any good.
Jadakiss was arrested on gun and drug possession charges over the weekend in his hometown of Yonkers, New York, after cops found a loaded gun in the car he was riding in, as well as a small amount of marijuana in his personal possession.
A Yonkers Police Department spokesperson told MTV News that authorities approached the 2006 Toyota Camry the "Why" rapper, whose real name is Jason Phillips, was sitting in at around 5 a.m. Saturday after noticing that the driver was "behaving oddly." As the cops approached, they noticed a "strong odor" of marijuana wafting from the vehicle.
Inside the car, police found a loaded .38-caliber handgun that had been reported stolen, according to MTV News and the Associated Press. All four men inside the Camry were charged with criminal possession of a weapon and the driver, Darnell Frazier, was hit with a DUI charge.
The quartet--Jadakiss, Frazier, Benjamin Lockhart and Kristian Smith--were taken into custody and are being held in Westchester County Jail while they await a Tuesday court appearance, during which bail will probably be set.
Jadakiss was arrested on a now familiar-sounding weapons/drug possession rap in 2004 after he and his entourage set off fireworks from a moving SUV during a Fourth of July celebration. Police searched the vehicle and found two loaded .45-caliber guns and less than an ounce of marijuana.
The former LOX member struck a deal with prosecutors in March 2005, paying a $900 fine and promising to stay out of trouble for three months, destroy the guns and submit to drug testing in exchange for not having to serve jail time.
