Jadakiss Busted for Drugs, Weapons
Jadakiss' Independence Day celebrating earned the rapper a big dose of Southern un-hospitality this week.
The rapper behind the chart-topping album Kiss of Death was rung up on gun and drug charges Monday in Fayetteville, North Carolina, after cops found loaded handguns and marijuana in his RV.
The hip-hopster, whose real name is Jason T. Phillip, was doing a little post-Fourth of July partying with his posse--someone was tossing lit fireworks out the window of the rapper's 2004 recreational vehicle--when they were spotted by an off-duty cop.
Said cop confronted the rapper and his seven-person crew, who were in the city following a weekend concert, and asked them to stop the fireworks flinging, but when they pulled away, the officer saw more sparks coming from the vehicle, according to the Fayetteville Observer.
When the RV was pulled over for a second time, the eagle-eyed officer saw a small stash of pot. He then asked to search the vehicle and found two concealed, loaded .45 caliber pistols.
Jadakiss quickly took responsibility for the illegal booty. He was not arrested but he now faces two misdemeanor charges for weapons and drugs.
Neither Jadakiss nor his reps could be immediately reached for comment Wednesday.
After rapping with the Lox and Ruff Ryders, the Yonkers-born Jadakiss released his first solo disc, Kiss That Game Goodbye, in 2001. His follow-up, Kiss of Death, debuted at number one last week and is still holding strong at number four this week.
He is scheduled to appear in a North Carolina court July 28.
