It's a Boy for Jack Black
At the Nacho Libre premiere Monday night in Hollywood, Jack Black announced the arrival of his first niņo.
The School of Rock star and his wife, musician Tanya Haden, welcomed a baby boy Saturday in Los Angeles, Black told E! News. This is the couple's first child together.
Black said that his wife and son are healthy and back at home.
And while the 36-year-old actor also said that the spot on the baby's birth certificate where the name goes is still blank, he mentioned that the front-runner right now is Samuel.
Black and Haden, 35, high school pals who reunited and kindled a romance last year at a friend's party, did the ultra-private thing and eloped in March.
"I had a crush on her," Black told GQ in January. "We weren't, like, close buddies. She was too pretty, and I was scared to talk to her."
Fronting Tenacious D and stealing movie scenes from John Cusack, cute grade-schoolers and a gigantic ape over the course of his career must have helped his performance anxiety a bit, because he finally popped the question just after Christmas last year.
His blushing bride is a cellist who formed the Haden Triplets with her two sisters, Petra and Tanya.
Black's latest film, Nacho Libre, in which he plays a cook at a Mexican monastery who becomes a hilariously melodramatic masked wrestling hero in order to save his home from financial ruin, opens Friday.
The proud papa is also attached to about six other upcoming movies, including The Holiday, costarring Cameron Diaz, Kate Hudson and Jude Law, and Be Kind, Rewind with Kirsten Dunst. One of Black's pet projects, Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny, is set for a Nov. 17 release.
