Idol Contestant Alexis Cohen Laid to Rest

Alexis Cohen may not have been American Idol's brightest star, but she was certainly one of Allentown's.

A small, private funeral was held for the infamous contestant in New Jersey this morning, just shy of a week after the 25-year-old was fatally struck in a hit-and-run.

Cohen was buried in Keneseth Israel Cemetery in South Whitehall, thanks to donors who both provided a plot and paid for the funeral services for the aspiring singer, who came from a financially strapped background.

Cohen's mother, Mindy, with whom the reality star lived, did not speak to media after the service, though Cohen's on-again, off-again boyfriend, James Kern, told reporters she "could take the worst time, as bad as it was, and turn it into a fun time."

Daniel Bark, who was charged with vehicular homicide, among other counts, and who, last we heard, was blaming Cohen for her death, is currently on suicide watch in Ocean County Jail, where he's being held on $150,000 bail.
