2007 Party Forecast

Paris Hilton Lisa O'Connor/ZUMAPress.com

If your New Year's resolution is to hit all the best parties, you've come to the right place. Consider this your 2007 Party Forecast. As a fully accredited and licensed partyologist, I see a serious warm front coming for Hollywood nightlife. And while it's one thing that can't be blamed on global warming, this year's bashes do promise to be hot, hot, hot. You don't have to take my word for it—I asked some superstars of soiree what to expect for oh-seven, and here’s what they had to say:

Sorry, all you Paris haters, but Miz Hilton isn't going anywhere. "I think the usual suspects will be out this year," says Jose Martinez, the publicist behind some of the coolest parties in town, like last year's Helio bash. "Paris, Lindsay, Nicole—they all have fun partying, and they look good doing it."

Jose doesn't want just the fabulous threesome to come to his events, though. "The kids from Heroes are hot, especially Hayden Panettiere," he exclaims. "I also think the trend of stylists as celebs is going to get bigger. I mean, who is hotter than Christina Ehrlich and Estee Stanley?" The Olsen's styling team is fine, but I just hope Rachel Zoe stays at home. Skin and bones at a bash? So not hot.

While the stylists rule L.A., Noah Tepperberg, co-owner of New York's Marquee and Las Vegas' Tao, foretells that some new gals are going to take over Sin City. "We get everybody at our clubs," Noah says. "But in Vegas, the girls who turn 21 this year, like Mischa Barton and Lindsay Lohan, will start to come out. They haven't been regulars, but I hope they will be." So do I! Maybe my party booty will be shipped to Vegas on the weekends so I can give you all the dish.

Good news for tabloid darlings like Nicole Richie, bad news for the paparazzi: Big clubs are out and private lounges are in. Mike Malin, partner in the Dolce Group—you know, the company that owns all those fabulous restaurants and clubs like Dolce and Les Deux—predicts that celebrities are going to continue gearing toward smaller venues in 2007. "I think what you've seen a lot of with Hyde, Les Deux and Teddy's is people are going for the intimate lounges with good vibes," he says.

"Even the restaurants have lounges," Malin adds, referring to the many levels at Geisha House, one of his hot eateries. Martinez agrees: "As far as events, I think people like an intimate setting—houses in the hills, an old art gallery, a fun outdoor space—as opposed to nightclubs."

In terms of music, it seems the '80s are here to stay. But according to DJ Marshall Barnes, house and electro are going to emerge in the club scene in 2007. "The genre is growing quickly," says the deejay, who most recently spun at the Setai for Jessica Alba's New Year's Eve party. Lindsay Lohan seems in tune with the new dance music. "I saw Lindsay at the Peaches concert when I was opening for them at the Avalon in December," Marshall tells me. "And they're a huge electro-rock group."

But don't worry, popsters. It doesn't look like your boy Justin Timberlake is going away. "We will never really know who will have the next biggest song till it comes out," Marshall says. "But I would say the hottest track this year will either be a JT song again or a new artist that no one knows of yet." Can sexy come back for sloppy seconds?

Who knows party fashion better than a stylist who club-hops with Paris Hilton? That's why I sought out sexy socialite and co-owner of Dash boutique Kim Kardashian to get the inside scoop on late-night style for 2007. "Party people always wear dresses," Kim says. "But instead of all the tight dresses from last year, girls are going to start wearing looser shifts."

Don't start crying yet, boys. The new '60s-inspired fashions will still have sex appeal. "Girls will be wearing supershort dresses," Kim says of the new frocks we're already seeing on trendsetters like Mischa Barton and Ashley Olsen">Ashley Olsen. "Designers will just start adding details like a sparkly neckline to make the dresses more nighttime."

And '60s-era style transfers to makeup as well. "I definitely see makeup for 2007 going more mod," says Stila celebrity artist Sarah Lucero. "Sienna Miller's '60s-inspired movie Factory Girl is coming out, and Sienna is such a trendsetter." So, buh-bye, red lips, and hello, light pink!

Keeping with the '60s trend, "big lashes are definitely sticking around for events," Lucero says. Stila is coming out with false singles for top and bottom lashes, so you can get that Twiggy look for a special night on the town. And the best part about singles? "It's easy for any party girl to do herself," Lucero adds. Now, that's what I like to hear.

Thank goodness dresses are getting looser, because that means I'll be able to indulge in 2007's delectable party delights. "You're going to see a lot more of a dessert presence on the scene," Malin says. "People are getting away from the typical tapas and experimenting with sweets."

And what better to wash down a yummy cupcake at Les Deux than a sweet cocktail? "Mojitos were sort of big last year, but for 2007 I'm seeing a surge of flavored spirits," Tepperberg says. He predicts party regulars like Carmen Electra and Hilton will be indulging in fruity martinis made with new vodka flavors like pear and pineapple. Somewhere, a dentist must be cringing.

Whew! All that forecasting has made this Party Girl exhausted. And I need my beauty rest because next week I'll be attending E!'s first-ever environmentally friendly Golden Globes post-party. In the meantime, make sure you check out the Golden Globes predix to find out who I and the rest of the scoop squad think is going to win this year. And tune in to the podcast for even more awards-season scoop!
