Metallica had a less than Swede reception over the weekend.
The hard rockers were forced to cancel the second of two planned Stockholm gigs last night after frontman James Hetfield was admitted to a Swedish hospital.
Hetfield's illness, which the band's spokeswoman blamed on dehydration resulting from a stomach bug, took hold right before the start of the concert, and the rest of the band took to the stage only to inform the roughly 16,000 fans that the show was nixed.
"As you can see, one of us is missing tonight," drummer Lars Ulrich said, adding that they were "truly, truly, truly sorry" for the last-minute cancellation. "Trust me, none of you guys wanna hear me, Rob [Trujillo] or Kirk [Hammett] sing."
The group backed up the announcement with a posting on their official website Sunday.
"Tonight's second show in Stockholm has been cancelled due to James falling ill and receiving medical attention at the hospital," the message read. "The show WILL be rescheduled sometime this spring...We apologize to all our fans who have traveled from near and far and we look forward to coming back soon."
Hetfield was released from the hospital later last night and has since returned to the U.S.
