Heigl Scrubs In Clothing Line

Grey's Anatomy's Katherine Heigl and Black Eyed Pea Will.I.Am now have more in common than color-based credentials.

Both will now lend their sartorial skills to some fashion-challenged service industries, launching respective clothing lines for nine-to-fivers in the health care and hotel businesses.

The Grey's Anatomy star has teamed with Peaches Uniforms for the aptly named Katherine Heigl Collection, which will feature fashion-forward scrubs promising to bring "a new level of style and sophistication" to medical pros "who value looking good as much as they value their life's work."

The line, to be made available in late fall, promises to imbue the traditionally bland hospital garb with kicky prints, fitted silhouettes and a wide range of colors that extends beyond the typically monochromatic lab coat palette.

"I have tremendous respect for women in the health care industry, and I know that it is often a difficult and thankless job," Heigl said in announcing the line. "I wanted to create a line of scrubs that would allow women to infuse some of their personality and style into their work apparel. When you feel good about how you look, you are more confident, more motivated and it can lift your spirits."

The line will be made available at retail stores, online and through medical industry catalogs with most of the items in the range priced below $25.

As for Will.I.Am, the rapper-producer is supplementing his already launched high-end label, Antik, to create a uniform line for staff at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

"My goal was to create a look that exudes upscale rock 'n' roll, leveraging the essence of the brand while contemporizing the staff's wardrobe to provide a more stylistic and fashion-forward appearance," the artist and former Los Angeles Fashion Institute student said.

The collection will feature 27 different uniforms for casino staff, with cocktail waitresses expected to don bolero jackets, bustiers and miniskirts and card dealers decked out in shirts emblazoned with the Hard Rock tattoo print and silver studded buttons.

While the design of the uniforms will be standard at each Hard Rock location, the colors used in the prints will vary from city to city to reflect the local sensibilities. The Hard Rock San Diego, for example, will integrate floral patterns into their uniforms, while the Biloxi location will feature more site-specific purples and browns.

The Black Eyed Pea-approved uniforms will make their debut at the Biloxi casino July 7, before getting rolled out at other locations in the following months.
