Hasselhoff Wants Wife in Rehab

Anyone who would accuse David Hasselhoff of abusing his wife must either be crazy or on drugs.

At least that's what the actor seems to contend in new court documents in which he implies that his estranged wife, Pamela Bach, has a drug problem and needs to be under the care of a mental health professional.

In the latest round of the couple's increasingly bitter divorce battle, Hasselhoff filed documents in Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday, requesting that Bach, who previously accused him of domestic violence, enter a drug rehabilitation program and submit to random drug testing.

The former Baywatch star also suggested that his wife of more than 16 years should retain a doctor who specializes in psychiatric medications.

Bach's lawyer, Gary Mitchell, denied that his client had a substance abuse problem.

"Pamela has no history of drug use, and the allegations are completely false," he told People. "The request is in reference to a recent surgery she had and a prescription for Vicodin, but she has not abused Vicodin and has actually taken less than the prescribed amount."

Hasselhoff's filing comes after Bach requested a temporary restraining order against her soon-to-be-ex-husband last month, alleging that he had both verbally and physically abused her, even breaking her nose on one occasion.

"David categorically denies that he has engaged in the conduct alleged by his wife," Hasselhoff's attorney told People. "He says, 'The only person who broke my wife's nose is her plastic surgeon.' "

Though a judge declined to issue an official restraining order, he did tell Hasselhoff to stay 100 yards from Bach unless exercising child visitation rights.

Hasselhoff filed for divorce from Bach on Jan. 12, citing irreconcilable differences in a split his rep. initially described as amicable.

Bach filed her own petition the following day and each parent was granted temporary custody of one of their two daughters, Taylor, 15, and Hayley, 13.

However, things quickly went downhill from there, with Bach claiming in court documents that Hasselhoff terrorized her on two occasions in February, threatening to "drive his car through the house, beat the door down and go into the house and take my [sic] all of my jewelry and sell it."

Hasselhoff responded in a court declaration of his own, claiming that Bach had abused both prescription and illegal drugs for the "last few years of our marriage" and behaved in a generally "volatile and erratic manner."

If that's what they consider amicable, we'd hate (read: love) to see what happens if things start getting ugly.
