Harrison's CD from Beyond the Grave

Several of the rocker's final recordings, including tracks laid down just months before his death last November, have been slated for release in a posthumous album, his label confirmed Monday.
The album, titled Brainwashed and jointly released by Harrison's Dark Horse Records and Capitol, is due in stores November 19--just 10 days before the one-year anniversary of Harrison's passing.
Produced by longtime collaborator and fellow Traveling Wilbury Jeff Lynne with an assist from Harrison's son, Dhani, Brainwashed will mark the first collection of new Harrison material since 1987's chart-topping Cloud Nine.
The elder Harrison had been working with his son on the album for months, before his illness forced him out of the studio. (He died on November 29, 2001 at age 58.)
"Before we started working on the album, George and Dhani had collaborated extensively on preproduction," Lynne, who also fronted the '70s pop-rock band Electric Rock Orchestra, told the Associated Press. "George would come 'round my house and he'd always have a new song with him. He would strum them on a guitar or ukulele. The songs just knocked me out."
Dhani Harrison and Lynne have been polishing the tracks for the better part of the past year.
"George constantly talked about how he wanted the album to sound, and there was always that spiritual energy that went into the lyrics as well as the music," Lynne said.
Harrison had reportedly written and recorded more than two dozen new songs for the album, which means more material could eventually surface on a later album.
Meanwhile, Launch.com reports that Koch Records is working on all-star tribute album to Harrison slated for release on February 25, which would have been the rocker's 60th birthday.
The album, titled Songs from the Material World, will feature artists like Kinks guitarist Dave Davies, Byrds frontman Roger McGuinn, Fleetwood Mac cofounder Peter Green, Julian Lennon, Todd Rundgren, Al Kooper, Donovan, the Smithereens and They Might Be Giants interpreting such Harrison classics as "If I Needed Someone" and "While My Guitar Gently Weeps."
Portions of the sales will go to charity.
