Happy Birthday, Natalie Portman! Black Swan Star Turns 31

Oscar-winning actress celebrates her big 3-1 after stepping away from the Hollywood scene

Something tells us this is going to be a bit of a low-key birthday for Natalie Portman.

Shortly after the Black Swan star nabbed an Oscar (and a slew of other awards) during last year's awards season, she mentioned she'd be stepping out of the spotlight to spend quality time with hubby-to-be Benjamin Millepied and her growing baby bump.

And she wasn't kidding.

Just a week after Portman celebrated her milestone 30^th birthday, the über-talented thesp, who virtually disappeared from the Hollywood scene for months, gave birth to her first child, Aleph.

But not even motherhood could keep Portman from Tinseltown for too long.

She resurfaced last November to flex her acting muscles at a live reading of the 1960 Billy Wilder film The Apartment in Los Angeles, then in April she served as ambassador for the Free the Children project, which raises funds for issues facing children in developing countries. 

She also starred in a pretty cool Paul McCartney music video, which we're hoping is a sign we'll see her on the big screen again soon.
