Hangover II Tattoo Battle Ends—Will Ink Job Remain on DVD?

The Hangover II DVD won't be held up over Ed Helms' tattoo.
After a nailbiter of a legal battle over the sequel's Mike Tyson-esque ink job, both sides today announced they had made a deal.
And that means the film will remain in theaters and come to home video with the tattoo intact.

S. Victor Whitmill claimed filmmakers ripped off his copyrighted design by not getting permission to use the same pattern that he created for Tyson.
He initially sought to block the film's release, but just two days before the film's May 26 debut, a judge ruled the film could open as scheduled.
But his lawsuit was allowed to move forward, and Warners apparently felt worried enough about its chances that its lawyers said in a court filing earlier this month that the studio would digitally alter the facial design for the DVD release.
A trial had been set for Feb. 21, 2012.
We won't be seeing the, um, face-off now.
"Warner Bros. and Whitmill have amicable resolved their dispute. No other information will be provided," Whitmill's attorney, Geoff Gerber, said in a joint statement with the studio.
The sequel has proved to be an even bigger cash cow than the original, grossing nearly $490 million worldwide as of this weekend,over $20 million more than The Hangover.
Guess there's plenty of money to go around.
