Gwyneth Paltrow's Model Plan

Gwyneth Paltrow is well on her way to becoming a model parent.

The Oscar-winning actress has signed a multiyear contract as the face of Estée Lauder. Her first global campaign, for the 10-year anniversary of the Pleasures fragrance, will begin appearing on television and in print in time for the holiday season.

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

"I am very proud to be a part of such a fine company," Paltrow said in a statement. "Its roots have been deep in the culture of classic American beauty for decades, and I am honored to be associated with a brand as iconic as Estée Lauder."

The cosmetics giants waxed similarly enthusiastic about welcoming the actress on board.

"Gwyneth personifies the image of our brand," Aerin Lauder, Estée Lauder senior vice president, said in a statement. "She is aspirational and stylish while being grounded, family-oriented and approachable."

Despite the nature of her new gig, Paltrow confessed she prefers a natural look to a heavily made-up visage.

"I don't tend to wear a lot of makeup in my daily life--just lip gloss, sunscreen and maybe some mascara," Paltrow told USA Today.

The London-based actress said the work will give her time to spend with daughter Apple, who turned 1 on May 14.

"It allows me to be with my daughter, which is what I want to do until some fantastic movie role comes along and makes me change my mind," Paltrow told USA Today.

In an interview with London's Evening Standard last week, Paltrow revealed that she battled depression after her father, Bruce, died in 2002 from the recurrence of throat cancer.

"I was in so much denial for so much of his illness," Paltrow said. "The thought of life without my father was totally unfathomable to me."

She said that her grief first began to ease when she and her husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, learned that she was pregnant with Apple.

"She's been very healing for all of us--for myself, my brother, my mother," Paltrow said. "For me, the great joy before I gave birth to her was the idea that she would be one-quarter my father."

The actress also said in the interview that she had eased up on the strict macrobiotic diet she formerly followed without exception--though trips to the likes of McDonald's or Ben & Jerry's are still out of the question.

"Now I'll have cheese once in a while or white flour, but I still believe in whole grains and no sugar," she said.

Aside from her Estée Lauder campaign, Paltrow will be seen this fall in the film adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize winning play Proof. She also has a role in the upcoming comedy Running with Scissors, also featuring Annette Bening.
