Grandparents Get Custody of Reality-TV Producer's Kids While He's Investigated in Wife's Death

This story keeps getting sadder.
A Los Angeles court has granted temporary custody of Bruce Beresford-Redman's young children to his parents, a day after he was detained for questioning in Mexico in the death of his wife, Monica. Her sister has also petitioned for custody of the kids, ages 5 and 3.
"My wife and I are grief-stricken at the loss of our beloved daughter-in-law," Bruce's father, David Beresford-Redman, said in a statement earlier today. "We know our son loved Monica and would never have harmed her."
Beresford-Redman was released from custody shortly after midnight Friday but has been ordered not to leave Mexico while authorities continue to investigate. The former Survivor producer was handed over to the U.S. Consolate and taken to an undisclosed hotel.
"He can't leave the country," said Francisco Alor, attorney general for the state of Quintana Roo. "We still can't say that he is responsible, but that's the starting point of the investigation because we have witnesses who say he was the last to see her alive."
Monica Beresford-Redman's body was discovered Thursday, which would have been her 42nd birthday, in a sewer near the Cancun resort where the family was vacationing. Her husband had reported her missing on Tuesday, a day after she supposedly went shopping and never came back to the hotel.
Witnesses told police that they saw the couple arguing Monday night. A hotel employee said that he went to their room to check on them and Bruce told him they were fighting about their kids.
Alor said that Monica had scratches on her neck and her body showed signs of asphyxiation and evidence of a heavy blow to the right side of her head.
