When:  Feb. 8-10
Where:  Ocean Way Recording Studio, Avalon and Eleven

The Grammy Awards are the biggest night in music, but there’s nothing wrong with bringing sexy back early, right? Before starting off my weekend seeing Justin Timberlake’s pre-Grammy performance, I stop by the In Style Grammy Style Studio to get beautified. The gifting suite is in record producer Jack Joseph Puig’s Ocean Way Recording Studio.

Albums from Barbra Streisand, Sheryl Crow, Diana Ross and scads more line the walls, giving the place an authentic music vibe. Among the vintage vinyl labels, haute designers like Vivienne Westwood and Ted Baker are lending beautiful dresses and high-fashion suits. “Randy Jackson called ahead this year to make sure we’d have his size,” the Ted Baker vendor tells me. How convenient.

In the back studio, musicians like the Pussycat Dolls are flocking toward Gwen Stefani's L.A.M.B collection, freaking out over the designer's new leather purses. “We had to start taking orders for these,” the vendor says, pointing to an adorable white clutch. Can Hollywood Party Girl put her name down?

By the bar, Katharine McPhee signs her name on a Swarovski-studded bottle of Hypnotiq, but she sticks to nonalcoholic beverages for her daytime drinking. “Here, you can take this home with you,” the bartender says, as he gives the American Idol runner-up her own bottle. Smart girl—she knows celebration tastes best after the show.

Speaking of shows, it’s late, so I quickly get my hair done by stylist-to-the-stars Atouzo Neihule of the Warren-Tricomi salon. Feeling sexy already with my new waves, I slip on a pair of Manolos and head into Hollywood for Verizon Wireless and Rolling Stone's Pre-Grammy Party at Avalon. I’ve never seen the club so jammed.

After finally finagling my way through a ginormous herd of party revelers, I catch a glimpse of Mr. J.T. himself on the red carpet. He’s looking as sexy as ever in an adorable vest and bowler hat, but I’m caught a little off guard when he says hello to his ex’s ex. “Did he really just say whaddup to Kevin Federline?” whispers a just-as-shocked-as-I-am photographer while snapping as many pictures as possible. Even stranger is that K-Fed forgoes the VIP area and chills backstage with tonight’s performers. Since when does a heated divorce make somebody so A-list?

Upstairs at Spider, the VIP club attached to Avalon, stars are mingling before the show. The Office’s Rashida Jones takes a break from work to have a drink with some gal-pals, while Lance Bass chats with a good-looking man in the corner. Normally, Justin’s other 'N Sync pal, JC Chasez, is the one who gets style points. But tonight, Lance looks trendy and adorable in a gray and black striped sweater, while JC looks like he’s auditioning for a tacky Vegas show with his crystal-encrusted blazer. I wish Dash boutique sisters Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian had brought some samples from their store so JC wouldn’t land on this week’s worst-dressed list.

After Kourtney tells me how much she loved the mod piece we wrote about her (hey, there’s nothing wrong with a little self-promotion), I leave the lounge area to check out the balcony overlooking the stage. Just as the show is about to kick off with Danity Kane, Paris Hilton walks by, giving a kiss hello to Brody Jenner before prancing off to her front-row table. It looks like all her recent bad press has sated Paris’ need for attention, because she’s dressed much more demurely than usual. Or maybe girlie attire is the new trend, because Tara Reid looks almost angelic tonight in a flowy beige knee-length frock. Could the nipple slips finally be over?

After Danity Kane, Justin gets on the drums for Kenna’s performance, before the stage opens up to the Black Eyed Peas. “Are we at a funeral?” Tara asks when Fergie starts singing a slow melody. “I feel like I should be wearing black.” Thankfully, Will.I.Am quickly pumps up the volume by leading his girl into the ever popular “Fergilicious.” Now the party has begun.

Entourage boy Rex Lee shakes his booty in the VIP stands, while Rosario Dawson gets her groove on in the upstairs balcony. Over in That '70s Corner, Wilmer Valderrama hangs with Laura Prepon and Danny Masterson, who look ecstatic when Timbaland and Nelly Furtado get promiscuous on stage. Surprisingly, Justin’s one-song set, "SexyBack" obvi, turns out to be the least exciting moment of the night. JC Chasez doesn’t even stay to see it (he says he’s going home to catch some z's, but the brunette linked to his arm makes me think otherwise).

Justin leaves us all yearning for more, but two nights later, other stars fill the sexy void at Beyoncé and People Magazine's Post-Grammys Event. “The Grammys were great as always,” says producer-manager David Weintraub, whose Sons of Hollywood show with Sean Stewart and Randy Spelling debuts in a couple of months. “But after being at a long awards show, there is nothing better than making the rounds at the parties and gettin’ wild.”

Stars are doing just that at Eleven, a new club that opened this month in West Hollywood. Okay, well maybe they’re not getting wild yet, but the party's just begun. West Wing star Allison Janney sits at a private booth upstairs, a table away from a bored-looking Mischa Barton. The former O.C. starlet is ravishing in a floor-length white Grecian gown, so I wish she’d cheer up. Just because there are naked pics of her ex Cisco Adler all over the Internet doesn’t mean fun can’t be had.

Enjoying the scene, but not as fashionable, is Beverley Mitchell, whose heavy black and white '50s-style dress makes the 7th Heaven cutie look like she’s on a prom date with fiancé Michael Cameron. Also in the badly dressed category is Brooke Hogan. “People kept spilling on my dress at the Grammys,” she says with a laugh. “So, I changed into this.” I refrain from telling her that spills would be an improvement on this mess.

Tara Reid, on the other hand, is two for two this weekend with outfits. And I’m not the only one who thinks she looks hot. MySpace honcho Tom Anderson flirts with the tan blonde for a good 30 minutes before she dashes off to one of the Grammy fetes my gossip pal Marc Malkin has been texting me about. Also flirting is Girls Gone Wild man-whore Joe Francis. His prey tonight is the lovely Lauren "L.C." Conrad. He softly caresses her hair and, since they both went to the same school in Laguna Beach, L.C. tries to play nice, giggling while she ducks from his touch. I’m waiting for her Hills buddy Audrina Patridge to save her, but it looks like the girls need to work on their code language—L.C. is stuck with Joe until a publicist intervenes.

By now, Mischa has moved from her booth to the glass balcony overlooking the lower floor. I kinda feel bad for her. She’s single, Nicole Richie is back with Paris, and no couture designers are around. Looks like glamour-puss Marissa is at the unpopular table.

After swapping gowns, Beyoncé finally makes it to her own party. But unless you’re one of the few permitted to enter the House of Dereon VIP area, she is off-limits. “Touch my arm and I will break your nose,” B.’s bodyguard says to a man trying to congratulate the Grammy winner. Yikes! I’ll stick to Christina Aguilera, thankyouverymuch.

Unlike posselicious Beyoncé, Xtina is low-key, celebrating her Grammy win for "Ain't No Other Man" at a corner table with none other than hubby Jordan Bratman. Shortly after the couple sits down, Mischa joins them. I’ve never seen this threesome hang out together, but I’m thrilled wallflower Mischa finally found some friends!

Having no trouble in the popularity department in funnyman Dane Cook. Numerous girls flock to his table, trying to pick up a joke—or something. But apparently all the comedian can think about is an American Idol winner. “I’ve been singing Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Since U Been Gone,’ ” he says. “It’s stuck in my cerebellum, and it won’t escape.” Cheer up Dane, it could be worse. At least it's not Clay Aiken's "Invisible."

Garcelle Beauvais might be a big fan of Robin Thicke—“I’m over the moon about him,” she says of the hot soul singer du jour—but she has no problem getting down to old-school Michael Jackson. When DJ Q-Tip plays “Don’t Stop 'Til You Get Enough,” the beautiful actress joins the circle of my dancing buddies. Aside from stopping for a few sips of champagne, she doesn’t miss a beat. But come Wednesday, Garcelle will be spending Heart Day with her number one man. “The best Valentine’s gift is my son remembering and making me a card,” she tells me.

And she’s not the only one planning to spend the holiday with her little boy. “I’ll be with my son; he’s my Valentine this year,” says Solange Knowles. “I’m making cupcakes for his class. I use Betty Crocker cake mix and make homemade icing. I try to be kind of domestic for the little kids.” Glad to see a homemaker rather than a home wrecker for a change.

Speaking of wrecks, I’m a nervous one worrying about my girl Mischa. It’s 1 a.m. and she can barely stand. A security guard has to walk her to Santa Monica Blvd. to ensure she safely slides into the passenger seat of a car. I decide to call it a night, too. I may not have been able to see Justin again, but Christina and crew did just as good a job bringing sexy back and keeping it alive all night long.

With additional soiree scoping by my fete froshy Juontel White.
