Goodbye or Good Riddance to Jon & Kate Plus 8?
Karen Alquist/TLC
Are you glad Jon & Kate Plus 8 is over? Did you watch Jennifer Lopez fall, or Adam Lambert get a rise out of the crowd? And why do you suddenly care about Katie Couric?
The answers—and more questions—in the latest TV ratings quiz:
1. So, was it goodbye or good riddance to Jon & Kate Plus 8? Last night's series finale was actually well-attended, attracting 4.3 million viewers, TLC said, up 2 million from last week's penultimate episode. When all was said and done and repeated in the tabloids, the show remained a ratings winner, if not the scandal-boosted phenomenon of earlier in the season.
2. J.Lo or Glambert? Numbers-wise, more people were tuned to the American Music Awards during Lopez's splat (15.4 million for the 9:30 p.m. half-hour) than Lambert's something-or-other (13 million for the 10:30 p.m. half-hour). Overall, the three-hour show averaged 14.2 million—the telecast's biggest crowd since 2002, per ABC.
3. Katie Couric is best known as: (A) a network news anchor or (B) a dance machine. The answer is, surprisingly, A. While the Internet is abuzz with Couric's moves, none of the YouTube clips can match, viewer for viewer, her low-rated CBS telecast. Then again, the day is still young…
4. Did Lifetime ruin Project Runway? Nielsen-wise, no. The season-six finale was cable's top reality show (4.3 million, per the latest weekly rankings). And while, yes, the episode was down from the Bravo-aired season-five finale (4.8 million), the show remained a top draw among women. Now, as to who was to blame for the boring designers…
Stay tuned for more ratings factoids and rankings.
