For certain residents of the greater Philadelphia area, Good Friday took on a whole new meaning last week when a commercial for the Girls Gone Wild franchise “accidentally” aired during a live broadcast of the annual religious service at the Vatican.
An ad for the DVD Girls Gone Wild’s Search for the Wildest Bar in America—touted as “uncensored”—screened at around 2 a.m., resulting in but one call of complaint.
Soup blog sources spoke with a high-ranking Vatican official about the pope’s reaction. “The pontiff was unfamiliar with the whole Girls Gone Wild thing, so we got him a copy. He felt pity for the girls who had gone wild, and even said a prayer for them. But believe me, when it comes to wild, he’s seen stuff that’d knock you from here to Tuesday. The guy’s the pope, ya know. I mean, we’re talking from satanic rituals to far out sex scenes that make this look like Patch Adams.”
