Golden Globes: Running Hot and Cold

Sacha Baron Cohen Steve Granitz/WireImage.com

RSVPs: Sacha Baron Cohen, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Pink
Where: 9900 Wilshire and the Beverly Hilton
When: Jan. 15

As I walk down the red carpet at  E! and the Environmental Media Association's Golden Green Party, all I can think is, Damn, it's cold! Yes, this might be L.A., but with the temperature hanging around 45 degrees, I feel like it's next week already and I'm at Sundance. On top of that, I have regrettably left my coat in the car—having chosen fashion over warmth—unlike Niecy Nash, who looks all warm and fuzzy in her fur jacket. Would it be bad form if I asked her to cuddle? Not wanting to commit a party foul in the first five minutes, I instead squeeze my way into a huddle of girls warming up under a heat lamp near Lance Bass' table.

I try to ignore the frigid air, because not only is tonight the Golden Globes but I'm partying for an amazing cause. It's the first ever Hollywood "green" party, and everything from the organic food to the recycled decorations is eco-friendly. Plus, for every attendee at this post-Globes bash, TreePeople is planting a tree. "I'd want to be a eucalyptus tree," says Pink. "They're really pretty." (But maybe not as pretty as nearby Amy Smart, whose piercingly gorgeous eyes really pop with her new dark 'do.)

While most stars don million-dollar jewels on their ears, necks and wrists, Pink prefers to put her money where her mouth is. Tonight, the singer is sporting two small diamonds in her teeth! I'm not digging the high-priced grille, but Pink looks otherwise adorable in a lacy babydoll dress. "I hope Will Smith wins tonight," she tells me. "He's a fellow Philly boy." I don't have the heart to tell her Will lost Best Actor in a Drama to Forest Whitaker.

Unlike Pink, whose friend kindly draped her with a warm black jacket, I am still left sleeveless. I stare in envy at 24's Eric Balfour, who looks toasty in his large coat and knit cap. "Here you go," Mr. Milo says, as he wraps his jacket over my goose bumps. I'm so in love right now.

"I think it's a beautiful idea," Eric says of the eco-friendly fete. "It's a really fun way to get people to think about doing things that are environmentally conscious." A coat sharer and a do-gooder? Mary Lynn Rajskub is lucky to have such a costar.

Thankfully, the guy isn't totally perfect. "Bird of paradise," he immediately responds, when I ask what type of tree he'd like to be. Hey, sometimes I get my trees and flowers mixed up, too.

I try to corner Best Actor in a Comedy Sacha Baron Cohen, but Borat quickly bounces in and out with his two beautiful gals: a Golden Globe statue and fiancée Isla Fisher. I try to ask Daily 10's Debbie Matenopoulos if she got any scoop from tonight's funnyman, but Deb can't get over her girl crush. "If Angelina Jolie were ever to approach me, I'd become a lesbian," she says, reliving the highlight of her night, when Brangelina walked into the Golden Globes. "She's just that gorgeous." I'd love to see for myself, but the world's most beautiful activists called it a night right after the show.

David Boreanaz couldn't be any more adorable, hugging wife Jaime Bergman to keep her warm. But before I can wax nostalgic about my moment with Mr. 24, my phone rings. "Jeremy Piven is, like, eating so much," my party pal screams from the HBO bash. "He has this huge plate of food—and it's all carbs." Maybe Ari is eating away his sorrows because, unlike the Emmys, where he wins awards and  the attention of the ladies, Mr. Gold isn't striking either tonight. Though another reveler doesn't seem to be having problems in that department.

"In party terms, Mark Wahlberg is the scene stealer," my friend says. "Which is so weird, because he didn't win." Yeah, but he's Mark Wahlberg. He's ridiculously hot!

While DJ AM blows into his hands to heat them enough to spin records, I try to keep my teeth from chattering long enough to talk to JC Chasez. "It's a nice party," he says, mimicking the deejay blowing into his palms. "It's a good crowd, but it's just a little bit chilly to go nuts."

Daily 10's Sal Masekela agrees. "I think the premise is great, but next year, they're gonna have to come up with some bio-fuel, heater-dome thing," he predicts. "We've got some reverse global warming going on."

After Grammy-nominated singer KT Tunstall finishes up her last song, the crowd quickly disperses. But green girl Julia Louis-Dreyfus won't stop partying if it's for such a good cause. "I dig it," she says of the event. "I'm an environmental activist, so this is right up my alley." Even though Julia didn't win a Golden Globe, she still looks stunning in her gold Carolina Herrera dress, as she reaches toward the heat lamp.

Tired of straining for warmth, I follow Pink to Paramount's indoor after-party. "Sorry, we can't let you in if you don't have an invitation," I hear a publicist tell Lance Bass. Now, that's cold. Luckily, they allow moi  to slide right through.

The green party might have won for atmosphere, but Paramount gets the gold for temperature. As my body begins to defrost, I overhear a partygoer say, "Can you believe Jay-Z and Beyoncé left when Jennifer Hudson got here?" And no, I can't believe it! I look around for the Best Supporting Actress, but instead see Borat feeding a slice of pizza to his girl. Enough with the cuteness, guys!

After overdosing on adorable, I meet my friend over at the Beverly Hilton in hopes of crashing the InStyle party. But as Jon Voight ushers in a group of pretty young things, I realize my luck has run out. Denied—sort of. I head back to the lobby, where I discover a little impromptu postparty going down.

Piven glides through the lobby extraordinarily close to America's Next Top Model's Melrose Bickerstaff. It looks like the two might be making an after-bash of their own. As we all know, the Piv loves his models. Rebecca Gayheart pulls McSteamy hubby Eric Dane through the cast of Girlfriends, while Katherine Heigl tugs her rocker fiancé, Josh Kelley, across the floor. Over to my left, I even see revved reveler Adrian Grenier grab the butt of an unidentifiable female near the concierge. This crazy carousel of love is getting out of hand, and besides, Hollywood Party Girl needs to rest up. In just a few days I'll be heading up to Park City, Utah, to brave even more cold weather—but this time I'll be dressed for it. So, check back next week for hot Sundance scoop.
