General Hospital Star Charged with DUI

The forecast is not so good for Kirsten Storms.

The General Hospital star was officially charged Tuesday with two counts of misdemeanor drunken driving resulting from her Sept. 7 arrest on a Los Angeles freeway, L.A. City Attorney's Office spokesman Frank Mateljan confirmed to E! Online.

According to Mateljan, Storms, 23, was behind the wheel of a blue Mercedes-Benz CLK500 on the San Fernando Valley's 101 highway at about 3 a.m. when officers stopped her after seeing a lit cigarette tossed from her vehicle.

"California Highway Patrol pulled her over and noticed her eyes were red, so they performed a series of field sobriety tests—tests that they did not find satisfactory," Mateljan said.

Officers subsequently administered a Breathalyzer, which showed the actress' blood-alcohol level at 0.13, well above the state's 0.08 legal limit.

Storms was taken into custody on suspicion of drunken driving, booked on the misdemeanor, then released a few hours later after posting $5,000 bail.

The thesp is set to be arraigned Oct. 2 in Van Nuys Superior Court on one count of driving under the influence and one count of driving a vehicle with a blood-alcohol content of 0.08 or more. If convicted, she faces a maximum of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.

After getting her start in showbiz at the tender age of 10, Storms has made a name for herself mostly in soaps.  Before joining General Hospital as Maxie Jones in 2005, the performer played Isabella Black on Days of Our Lives from 1999 to 2004. Nonsoap credits include a role in the Disney Channel movie Johnny Tsunami and guest stints on 7th Heaven and CSI: Miami

Additionally, Storms has provided the voice of Bonnie Rockwaller for five seasons on the Disney Channel superhero 'toon Kim Possible.

Storms isn't the only General Hospital player to get mixed up with the law of late.

Actor Sean Kanan, who made several appearances on the soap in the mid-'90s, and also starred as Ralph Macchio's nemesis in The Karate Kid, Part III, was collared on a misdemeanor DUI Aug. 18 in Los Angeles.
