Gary Busey Files for Bankruptcy

Celebrity Apprentice, Gary Busey NBC

Does the entire Two and a Half Men budget go to Ashton Kutcher?

Gary Busey played himself earlier this season on the hit CBS show, but it doesn't seem like that paycheck was enough to sustain his spending habits.

The 67-year-old actor—who even swapped significant others with Ted Haggard for an episode of Wife Swap that aired earlier this year—has fallen on some tough times financially. E! News confirmed that Busey has filed for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy in California.

So just how did the Celebrity Rehab alum fall so far into debt?

According to court documents, Busey indicates he might owe money to the IRS, UCLA Medical Center, Waste Management, Pacific Hearing and various lawyers.

He even claims he has less than $50,000 in assets and owes between $500,000 and $1 million in liabilities.

The filing also indicates that Busey may owe money to Carla Loeffler, a woman who alleges he attacked her at a Tulsa airport in May.

"As with many great American institutions, i.e., General Motors, American Airlines and many others who have utilized the strategic business tool called bankruptcy," his rep told E! News in a statement, "Gary Busey's filing is the final chapter in a process that began a few years ago of jettisoning the litter of past unfortunate choices, associations, events and circumstances that visited themselves upon this great American icon."

The statement also says Busey's legal action will hopefully "enable the start of a new and clear path to peace, happiness and success with his career and his wonderful new soul mate, Steffanie, and their son Luke."
