Fred Durst Off the Hook

A court has cleared Fred Durst of some moshing gone amok.

The Michigan Court of Appeals decided Wednesday to give the rocker a pass on injuries suffered by a paramedic at a 2000 Limp Bizkit concert.

The paramedic, Christopher Dickinson, sued the band following the Oct. 29, 2000, Anger Management show, claiming he sustained severe injuries when a fan kicked him in the head after Durst invited concertgoers to come down to the main floor.

Dickinson said he was responding to a female fan who allegedly suffered a seizure when he was punted. The attack caused brain damage that prevented him from working and damaged his marriage, according to the suit.

But, in a unanimous decision, the appeals panel said Durst didn't act irresponsibly by inviting fans to flood the main floor at the Palace in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

"The thug who kicked [Dickinson] in the head violated his duty to [Dickinson] and, if caught, should be held accountable," the court said.

In addition, the court ruled that the band's management, the venue and the concert promoters--also named in the suit--weren't liable for Dickinson's injuries.

Limp Bizkit's concerts have been plagued by mayhem, sometimes resulting in legal action against the rock-rap outfit. Most notably, a fan was killed in a stampede during Bizkit's appearance at Australia's Big Day Out festival in 2001; the band was cleared of any wrongdoing, however.

Durst is currently combating a lawsuit brought by a security guard who says he was kicked in the head by Durst during a 1999 show in Minneapolis. He and his mates are also facing a suit filed by Chicago fans after the band stormed off the stage mid-set during a 2003 concert.

Legal problems aside, Bizkit is reportedly at work on a greatest-hits album that would include three new tracks. While in the studio, the band is also expected to record tracks for a new album, a follow-up to last year's critically panned Results May Vary.

Writing on the band's official Website in June, Durst also said Limp Bizkit would kick off a U.S. tour at the end of that month. So far, no word on any dates.
