Foxy Flirts with Jail Time

At this rate, Foxy Brown's going to end up getting nailed over a manicure.

The hip-hop diva on Monday once again failed to appear in Manhattan Criminal Court to face sentencing on misdemeanor assault charges stemming from a 2004 dispute over the cost of a manicure, leading the judge to warn her lawyers that, should she skip the court proceedings on Tuesday, she would be locked up.

All things considered, the  "Chyna Doll" performer, whose real name in Inga Marchand, probably wishes she'd done her own mani-pedi.

Brown's attorney, Frank Rothman, chalked up the rapper's absence to a medical emergency, claiming she was at home recuperating from a dental procedure and that his client meant "no disrespect."

Though that doesn't mean none was taken.

"I don't take this kindly," Judge Melissa C. Jackson said in court. "I don't believe she is incapable of being here."

Jackson rescheduled the sentencing for Tuesday morning, but warned Rothman that if his client again failed to show up, a proposed plea bargain aimed at sparing the rapper jail time would be scrapped and Brown would serve a one-year sentence behind bars.

Brown's trouble dates back to an August 2004 incident at Manhattan's Bloomie Nails. Two manicurists at the salon claim that Brown argued over a $20 tab and instead of forking over the cash, attacked the workers, allegedly kicking one and attacking the other.

At Monday's hearing, Rothman also indicated that Brown sought to withdraw her guilty plea, claiming the deal was struck under duress. But Jackson wasn't biting. The judge rejected Brown's about-face, saying "her plea was entered voluntarily."

The deal, if upheld, allows for Brown to avoid jail time and instead serve three years' probation and take anger management classes.

Brown has a history of not showing up in court: Last month she failed to appear in New Jersey court for a separate hearing to answer two criminal complaints filed by her former assistant. Those charges were eventually dismissed after Brown and her former assistant reached a settlement.
