Foxy Being Hunted for Skipping Court
It's been a rough year so far for Foxy Brown's probation officer.
A warrant was issued for Brown's arrest Thursday after the militantly groomed hip-hop star skipped out on yet another court date, this one related to her February run-in at a Florida beauty supply shop.
Already in violation of her probation for leaving New York without permission, Brown was arrested Feb. 15 and charged with battery and resisting an officer after she allegedly threatened and spat at the owner of Queen Beauty Supply in Fort Lauderdale and then slapped the hand of the cop who arrived at the scene to calm her down.
Brown, whose real name is Inga Marchand, spent the night in the pokey and was released the following morning after posting a $1,500 bond.
The Chyna Doll rapper had already been on thin ice even before her purported beauty shop freak-out, having been kicked out of a court-ordered anger management program in January for allegedly threatening an employee.
Brown pleaded guilty to probation violation on Mar. 1, with Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Melissa Jackson giving the diminutive performer a third chance to redeem herself—and, logically, upping the anger-management portion of Brown's sentence to counseling once a week for the next year.
But because Brown failed to notify the Fort Lauderdale authorities that she wouldn't be around Thursday, according to the Miami Herald, she could very well be facing her third strike.
"Three strikes and you're out," Jackson told Brown in court a few weeks ago. "Basically, I'll be giving the keys to the jailhouse to Ms. Marchand. I'm reserving the right to resentence you to jail for one year."
After a handful of dodged court dates and vows of innocence, Brown pleaded guilty in October to two counts of misdemeanor assault stemming from her 2004 arrest at a Manhattan nail shop, where she roughed up two manicurists after suspecting that they had overcharged her.
Once she had copped the plea, Brown was sentenced to three years probation, anger management counseling and random drug testing.
While Brown is due to release Black Roses, her first studio album in six years, sometime in 2007, be on the lookout in the meantime for the disc's first single, which just might boast this shout-out to Lil' Kim—"Anything you can do, I can do better. I can do a year in jail better than you."
