First Look: Tom Cruise Films Oblivion in New York City

Actor is all smiles on set, following several press appearances for Rock of Ages

Tom Cruise sure is a versatile dude. 

The actor took a break from promoting Rock of Ages and got to work on the set of action film Oblivion on Tuesday in NYC. Cruise was all smiles on set of the action flick, wearing aviator shades, a brown jacket, a white tee and jeans.

In Oblivion, Cruise plays a veteran soldier sent to a distant planet to destroy the remains of an alien race. 

The sci-fi action flick, which also stars Morgan Freeman, is due in theaters in 2013.
