CELINE SETTLES: Celine Dion has agreed to settle a defamation suit she filed earlier this year against the National Enquirer, which wrongfully claimed she was pregnant with twins. The tab will publish a retraction and apology in Thursday's issue and donate money to the American Cancer Society in honor of Dion and husband Rene Angelil, who has battled cancer.
MORE CELINE: Meanwhile, on the final page of her new book, My Story, My Dream, Dion reveals the child she is carrying is a boy. "Everyday I say a little prayer for him to be good and happy," she writes. "He is already an important part of my story."
EXCELLENT: The Simpsons, already TV's longest-running toon, airs its 250th episode Sunday night on Fox.
KEEP AWAY! Live with Regis executives reportedly banning Kathie Lee from appearing and advertising her new album on the show until July. They say they don't want the former cohost competing with those auditioning for the seat next to Reeg.
ALL BON JOVI NEWS: Rocker Jon Bon Jovi signing on to star in John Carpenter's Vampires: Los Muertos. He and his band also are performing at this year's Super Bowl.
ON BEING GREEN GOBLIN: John Malkovich denying reports that he will play the Green Goblin in Columbia's upcoming Spider-Man movie directed by Sam Raimi and starring Tobey Maguire.
THE EMPIRE EXPANDS: Viacom grabbing a virtual monopoly on the entire music-television business by gobbling up Black Entertainment Television in a stock deal valued at $3 billion. The coporate giant adds BET to its other holdings, including MTV, VH1 and Country Music Television.
FEELING NORMAL: Fox's gay-themed John Goodman comedy Normal, Ohio making an impressive debut Wednesday night, winning its 8:30 p.m. time slot and delivering Fox's best Wednesday ratings among men 18-49 since May 1998.
PICKING UP: ABC ordering six additional episodes of Gideon's Crossing, the medical drama starring Andre Braugher, after the show's solid performance in the ratings.
CELEBRITY ACTIVIST: Alec Baldwin asking New York lawmakers in Westchester county for at least $50,000 to help fund a project that tests baby teeth for levels of a radioactive isotope to document whether nearby nuclear power plants are emitting dangerous radiation.
BROTHERLY LOVE: Oasis in talks to team with the Black Crowes for a coheadlining tour tentatively set for next June.
PICASSO ON FILM: Steve Martin reuniting with Roxanne director Fred Schepisi on the big screen version of Martin's play Picasso at the Lapin Agile. Martin's not expected to star in the project, which starts shooting next spring.
WHATCHU TALKIN' 'BOUT, JUDGE?! Syndicated TV court Judge Mills Lane ordering former child star Gary Coleman to pay the medical bills of a woman he assaulted after she asked for an autograph.
GOING EASY! The American Federation of Television & Radio Artists taking a milder approach than the Screen Actors Guild in dealing with actors who crossed the picket line to work during the unions' recent strike against the ad industry.
