HOLY BOX OFFICE: Batman Begins leading the weekend movie rundown for the second week in a row, racking up an estimated $26.8 million. Bewitched finished in second with an estimated $20.2 million. Overall, the box office was down from last year for a record 18th weekend.
FRIENDS OF OSCAR: The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences inviting 112 Hollywood players to join, including actors Jamie Foxx, Will Ferrell, Gael Garcia Bernal, Clive Owen, Thomas Haden Church, Sophie Okonedo and Catalina Sandino Moreno.
REMEMBERED: Paul Winchell, an early TV pioneer and the voice of Winnie the Pooh's animated friend Tigger, died Friday at age 82.
DELIVERED: Former Law & Order Angie Harmon and her football-playing husband Jason Sehorn welcoming their second daughter, Avery Grace Sehorn, Wednesday in Dallas.
GOOD HELP IS HARD TO FIND: A New York grand jury on Friday indicting "housekeeper to the stars" Lucyna Turyk-Wawrynowicz for stealing items from such clients as Robert De Niro and Candice Bergen.
WRONG NUMBER: According to the Morning Sun newspaper in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, fans of ABC's reality hit Dancing with the Stars have been mistakenly dialing a local 888 number instead of the correct digits for John O'Hurley. ABC is investigating the potential mix-up.
B.I.G. DEVELOPMENTS: Trial in the lawsuit filed against the LAPD by the family of the late Notorious B.I.G. wrapping early Friday after plaintiffs' attorney said he had received a phone call from someone claiming to have information linking the murder to rogue cops. Both sides requested more time to investigate statements made by the caller. Trial resumes Tuesday.
REALLY BIG SHOW: Producers of Live 8 saying concerts will be accessible to a record-setting 5.5 billion people worldwide. Broadcasts of the free July 2 shows on television, radio, the Internet and even cell phones will make the largest live transmission in history.
