MOURNED: Veteran funnyman and actor Buddy Hackett is dead at the age of 78. Hackett appeared in such movies as The Music Man, The Love Bug and It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World.

DEFLATING PUFFY: Sean "P. Diddy" Combs' former friend and business partner Kirk Burrowes suing the rap mogul for allegedly forcing Burrowes to sign over a 25 percent stake in Bad Boy Entertainment by threatening him with a baseball bat.

SOMETHING SHADY: Eminem's ex, Kimberly Mathers, pleading not guilty to a coke charge. She was stopped by cops in Michigan last month and charged with possession of up to 25 grams of cocaine, driving with a suspended license and unsafe driving near a stopped emergency vehicle.

SHOWDOWN SCRAPPED: RCA no longer releasing Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken's albums simultaneously on August 19. The debut albums will be released individually in September.

BOOB TUBE KUDOCAST: The Shield's Michael Chiklis and Malcolm in the Middle's Jane Kaczmarek announcing the 55th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards nominations live July 17 at 5:38:30 a.m. (PT) from the Academy's Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre in North Hollywood. E! will provide live coverage of the announcement starting at 5 a.m. (PT).

KEEPING IT REAL: NBC announcing a second round of the reality show "For Love or Money," this one featuring a bachelorette. The show begins July 14.

NO ENCORE: CBS canceling Nathan Lane's series Charlie Lawrence after only two broadcasts. The network has also shelved Baby Bob.

REUNITED: Iggy Pop reuniting with original Stooges bandmates Ron Asheton (guitar and bass) and Scott Asheton (drums) for his new album Skull Ring, which will also feature collaborations with Green Day and Sum 41. The album's due in stores in September.

PHASERS ON LITIGATE: Activision suing Viacom on Monday over its Star Trek license. The videogame publisher accuses Viacom of not doing enough to promote the TV series and failing to make new movies and TV shows which are essential to maintaining interest in the brand.

ALONE: Christian Slater inking a deal to star as a supernatural detective Edward Carnby in Alone in the Dark, a big-screen adaptation of the video game franchise from Atari, according the Hollywood Reporter.

SPIDEY SUIT: Marvel suing Sony for the second time over Spider-Man, claiming the company's electronics division has blocked the comic book publisher from signing licensing agreements with consumer electronics companies under Marvel's 1999 partnership with the movie division.

ROCK 'N' ROLL LANDMARK: The owner of New Jersey's Stone Pony nightclub selling to developers who promise to maintain the historic venue, which has hosted the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Bo Diddley, the Kinks, Joan Jett, Dion, Cheap Trick and the Pretenders.

NOT FUNNY: Fox Movie Channel canceling it's Charlie Chan movie festival over complaints that the '30s and '40s films perpetuate racist stereotypes of Asian Americans.

CASHING OUT: MGM selling its stake in American Movie Classics, the Independent Film Channel and WE: Women's Entertainment for $500 million to help finance its bid for Vivendi's entertainment assets.

NEW BEAT: Veteran Washington, D.C., correspondent Kate Snow leaving CNN for ABC News.
