HE WRITES THE SONGS THAT MAKE THE WHOLE WORLD DANCE: Barry Manilow to perform on ABC's Dancing with the Stars Friday, singing "Copacabana," "Unchained Melody" and, appropriately, "They Dance."

REMEMBERED: Moira Shearer, the ballerina and actress best known for her starring role in Michael Powell's 1948 classic The Red Shoes, died Tuesday in Oxford, England. She was 80.

SETTING THE STAGE: Depeche Mode and Tool headlining the seventh annual Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival Apr. 29-30 in Indio, California. Other acts include Franz Ferdinand, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Scissor Sisters, Common and many more.

'TOONING UP:Organizers announcing that Madonna will open up next week's Grammys by performing with the animated band Gorillaz, the first time a human-cartoon combo has played the ceremony.

ON THE BEAT: Actress Connie Nielsen stepping in for Mariska Hargitay playing a warrant detective while she's on maternity leave for six episodes of Law & Order SVU, according to the New York Post.

REALLY SMALL SCREEN: In a first, CBS planning to make episodes of its new installment of Survivor available for download on CBS.com after its premiere on Feb. 2.

NOT QUITE INDEPENDENT WOMEN: Destiny's Child not quite done yet as the trio signs on for yet another farewell appearance, this time singing the national anthem at the NBA All-Star Game on Feb. 19.

HITTING THE ROAD: Per USA Today, the Black Eyed Peas launching their first headlining tour starting Mar. 23 in Fresno that will hit more than 35 cities across North America.

TAKING THE RAP: Great White's former tour manager agreeing to plead guilty to 100 counts of involuntary manslaughter stemming from a deadly 2003 fire in a Rhode Island nightclub in exchange for a sentence of no more than 10 years behind bars.
