SPLITSVILLE! After three and a half years together, Ellen DeGeneres and Anne Heche confirming they've split up. "Unfortunately, we have decided to end our relationship," the pair said in a statement, adding the decision was "amicable." The New York Daily News quotes unnamed friends saying there was no third party involved in the breakup.

KILLER "CELL": Jennifer Lopez's stylish slasher movie The Cell debuted as number one at the box office this weekend with an estimated $17.2 million.

MUGGLE ALERT! British media and Ain't It Cool News reporting 13-year-old Brit Gabriel Thomson (New Adventures of Pinocchio) has won the coveted role of Harry Potter in the upcoming film version of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Warner Bros. refused comment, saying it will make an official announcement Monday on the movie's Website.

YOU KNEW IT WAS COMING: Keenen Ivory Wayans reuniting with brothers Shawn and Marlon to make Scary Movie II, slated to start shooting in the fall for a May 2001 release.

JUNGLE BOOGIE: The soundtrack album for Survivor being released in record stores August 29. The CD is the first in a planned series of Survivor albums.

ANOTHER MIL: Eminem's mother, Debbie Mathers-Briggs, suing her son for another $1 million after already filing a $10 million defamation lawsuit against the rapper. Briggs filed the new civil suit based on more comments that Eminem allegedly made about her in published interiews.

SPRINGER MURDER UPDATE: Charges against the German man accused of killing his ex-wife after both appeared on The Jerry Springer Show have been reduced from first- to second-degree murder. Authorities say they can't prove the slaying was premeditated.

BAD TRIP: Actor Terrence Howard (The Best Man) was released on Friday after spending a night in jail for allegedly grabbing a flight attendant's wrist during a cross-country trip. Howard could face federal charges for the altercation.

KEEPING HER CLOTHES ON? Nicole Kidman, last seen on Broadway strutting naked in The Blue Room, may keep her clothes on as she considers an offer to do Henrik Ibsen's The Lady From the Sea at the National Theater in the spring. The production will be directed by Trevor Nunn.

NO WHAMMYS! Bill Murray starring in the game-show comedy Press Your Luck, based on the true story of a man who, after getting downsized and losing his job, gets hooked on watching the daytime game show.

VAMPIRE-LESS: Showtime and ABC teaming up for a four-hour miniseries based on Anne Rice's novel Feast of All Saints, a straightforward drama about "free people of color" set in the pre-Civil War years of 1850s New Orleans.

WHAT YOU DON'T NEED: A regrouped INXS, with former Noisework singer Jon Stevens replacing Michael Hutchence, forced to cancel a short tour in New Zealand due to poor ticket sales.

IMPROVISING: Columbia Records' Legacy imprint and Verve Records joining forces to release a five-CD box-set companion to Ken Burns' PBS documentary Jazz, along with 22 individual artist discs.
