Fiona Waves Bye to "Tidal" Tour
Grammy-winning singer Fiona Apple has canceled what's left of her Tidal tour, citing "personal family problems" in a statement released by her record company, Sony.
There are no plans to reschedule the 18 canceled East Coast concert dates, but the statement indicated that Apple plans to return to the studio in the spring for a follow-up to her breakthrough album Tidal, which features such hits as "Shadowboxer," "Criminal" and "Sleep to Dream."
Apple, 20, has been touring for the better part of two years, and the stress just might be getting to her a little.
In a recent Rolling Stone profile, the singer explained the reason for the psychiatric medication in her bag: "My psychiatric problem."
Okay.
Following up a bizarre rant during her MTV Music Awards acceptance speech, Apple punctuated her wacky concert banter last month at a New York show when she reportedly launched into an expletive-laden complaint. "Motherfucker. There's something on my piano which somebody put there to get me, but I'm just gonna ignore it," she shrieked, according to Addicted to Noise.
Meanwhile, the tour might not be the only thing Apple has dumped. The waifish, doe-eyed singer has been tied romantically to magician David Blain.
But the New York Daily News reports Apple has been seen tooling around in a Boogie Nights T-shirt, holding hands with that film's writer-director, Paul Thomas Anderson.
