Feisty Frenchie Fights Back

Don't count disgraced American Idol contestant Frenchie Davis down and out.

Despite getting the boot from the show's producers last week for posing for topless pics that were published on a kiddie-porn Website the aspiring diva will get a chance to attend music's biggest bash as a special correspondent for Entertainment Tonight at Sunday's Grammy Awards.

In addition, a special meeting has been arranged between Davis and her real-life idol Aretha Franklin.

Davis' dismissal had fans flocking to the internet in protest. Some 43,000 people signed an impromptu online petition to bring the zaftig singer back into the spotlight. But Fox execs maintain the singer won't be allowed back to compete on the talent show. The former semi-finalist was expected to perform on the February 25 episode.

Regardless, the scandal could be the best thing to happen to the Washington, D.C., native. She may no longer eligible be for Idol's top spot but the controversy has landed Davis a VIP pass to Madison Square Garden's Grammy telecast and a management deal from Idol's producers. Earlier this week, 19 Entertainment producers told reporters they "will be doing anything that they can to ensure that Frenchie gets a recording offer outside of American Idol."

On Friday, during an Entertainment Tonight interview with Paula Abdul Davis defended posing for the risqué shots(the money allegedly covered her college tuition fees at Howard University), saying, "Four years ago, I modeled in lingerie on an adult Website. From what I hear, the Website is under new ownership and it's a lot different now than when I worked for it. I would never compromise my integrity to be successful."

Hard times drove the 23-year-old to disrobe for the site as Davis confessed to Abdul "The year I didn't have money to pay for school, I was homeless for three months. I went through struggles, even then I knew there was a greater good."

Given her powerful performance while on Idol it appears Davis' starstruck dreams could still come true, despite the E! True Hollywood Stories-worthy detour.

Meanwhile, fellow Idol contestants who failed to impress last night may be happy there's one less set of pipes competing against them. The round-three results of Tuesday night's show will be announced tonight after America votes two new finalists into the top ten circle.

Also tonight on Idol, fans of last season's winner Kelly Clarkson and runner-up Justin Guarini will get a sneak peek at the duo's upcoming feature From Justin to Kelly. A trailer for the movie will play during the half-hour show featuring Clarkson and Guarini singing "Timeless," a new single from the flick, which debuts April 25.

As if that wasn't enough Idol excitement, tubers will get an extra dose of truly terrible singers during an hour-special airing tonight at 9 p.m. titled American Idol: The Best of the Worst. And you thought the Like a Virgin guy was bad?
