Farrah: "I Think I'm Bleeding"
That's what her boyfriend told Farrah Fawcett after he grabbed her by the neck and slammed her head into the driveway during a heated argument, the actress testified Tuesday.
Fawcett, 51, who earned critical praise for her portrayal of an abused wife in the 1984 TV movie, The Burning Bed, broke down in tears during the emotional court appearance.
On trial is former lover James Orr, a director and screenwriter (Father of the Bride II).
Orr, 44, is charged with misdemeanor battery. He has pleaded innocent.
"I'm not guilty of anything," Orr told reporters outside the courtroom.
At issue is what happened in Bel-Air, California, the night of January 28, 1998.
On the stand, Fawcett said she and Orr began arguing at a restaurant after she turned down a marriage proposal.
The dispute moved to Orr's mansion. Things got ugly, Fawcett said, when she stormed out of the house.
"I was running to get away--to get into my car. He caught me, and we struggled, and I ended up on the ground," the ex-Charlie's Angels pinup said.
Choking back tears, Fawcett added: "I don't remember much of the struggle except for trying to get up. He ended up hitting my head on the asphalt..."
"I said, 'Stop because it really hurts. I think I'm bleeding. Time out."
In opening arguments, Orr's attorney said Fawcett's version of events were exaggerated and that the actress herself was "manipulative, domineering and controlling."
In testimony, Fawcett admitted to previously breaking windows at Orr's house with a baseball bat.
Orr directed Fawcett in the 1995 comedy, Man of the House.
