Shockers, Snubs and Sentimental Faves: Five Things to Know About the Daytime Emmy Nominations
Almost seems bittersweet, right? Some of your favorite soaps get canceled and then honored. If they were so deserving of accolades, why not leave them on air, right? But alas, that's showbiz, kids.
This morning, the nominations for the 38th annual Daytime Emmy Awards were unveiled, with General Hospital (call it the James Franco effect) scoring a leading 21 nominations. Hot on its tail (it's jealous evil twin of sorts) was The Young and the Restless, which earned 20, followed by Sesame Street, with 16.
But enough with the numbers. We want the snubs! The sweeps! The huhs?! So here are some cold, hard facts—five of them, actually—you need to know about the Daytime Emmy nominations.
EXCLUSIVE!
Jane Lynch on Ed O'Neill Glee Diss: Let It Go!
Since Ed O'Neill decided he was the best judge of who does—and does not—deserve their Emmy, we've been wondering what Glee's bitchy Sue Sylvester has to say about it.
After all, she's not only played by the fab Jane Lynch—but Lynch herself was specifically O'Neill's target.
The jealous douche had the gall to say that his Modern Family costar, Sofia Vergara, deserved the Emmy, not Jane. He said Lynch's character was "one-note," among other insults.
Well, what does J.L. have to say about it all?
Jennifer Love Hewitt: Emmy Contender?
Jennifer Love Hewitt should start looking at awards show red carpet dresses now.
If all is right with the world, she'll be nominated for her work as a rape victim in last week's Law & Order: SVU…
Justice Served? No Emmy for David Letterman's Blackmailer
He may have won his freedom early, but Robert "Joe" Halderman was a big loser Monday night.
At the News and Documentary Emmy Awards in New York, the man who tried to extort money from David Letterman did not earn a statuette for his producing work on a 2009 episode of CBS' 48 Hours Mystery. Halderman was not even present, though, having previously announced that he would not be attending the ceremony so as to avoid the inevitable media circus.
But, former felon failures aside, the Tiffany Network didn't leave empty-handed. In fact, CBS dominated the night with seven Emmy wins, including three for 60 Minutes and another three for the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric.

Inside Emmy's Big Ball: Lea Michele Cops a 'Tude, Anna Paquin's All Grins
It was a starry night indeed for those who attended the Governors Ball following last night's Emmy Awards.
The casts of Modern Family, 30 Rock, True Blood, and Glee were just some of the big names in attendance who celebrated with industry folks, and a few fans alike. But there were some babes who were not pleased with a few of the common folk roaming around (they paid upwards of $1000 to be there).
Any guesses as to which hottie pulled the diva card?
Whose Emmys-Escorting Celebrity Daughter Is This?
Awards shows don't just bring out the famous faces—they also bring out the famous faces in the making.
Which is exactly why this stunner (and, in taking after her Emmy-nominated mama, fledgling actress) got trotted out at last night's Emmy Awards bash.
And while she may have eschewed any obvious nepotism by declining to take on her TV and movie star parent's last name, there's no denying that in the looks department, it's a very close call indeed. So who is she?

It was just a week ago when Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer walked down the aisle in Malibu, and last night the couple hit the Hollywood scene at Entertainment Weekly's pre-Emmy party.

Emmys Poll! Will Steve Carell Finally Win?
Can Steve Carell finally—finally!—win an Emmy for all that serious funny business on The Office? Or will big dog Alec Baldwin, a Glee guy or Big Banger laugh him off the stage Sunday? It's your turn to make the call:
