Eddie Murphy Does Daddy
The big-screen comic and wife Nicole are celebrating the Christmas Eve birth of a new baby daughter, Murphy's publicist announced Monday.
"We are ecstatic and very happy about the fourth addition to our family, baby Zola Ivy," the couple said in a statement.
The tyke was born in a Los Angeles hospital, weighing in at 7 pounds, 13 ounces and measuring 20.5 inches. She is the couple's fourth child, joining sisters Bria, 10, and Shayne, 5, and brother Myles, 7. Murphy also has a son, Christian, from a previous relationship.
The Murphys, who met in the late 1980s and married in 1993, have survived Eddie's fluctuating career fortunes and away-from-home antics, including the notorious 1997 incident in which the erstwhile Beverly Hills Cop was pulled over by West Hollywood police after giving a ride to a transsexual hooker.
But all is apparently well at the Murphy homestead these days. In addition to the new addition, Murphy's 1999 films Bowfinger and Life have done better at the box office than industry analysts predicted and the star pulled down his first $20 million paycheck for The Nutty Professor II: The Klumps, which is due for a summer Y2K release.
