Eddie Donates DNA to Determine Daddyhood

For some, the proof is in the pudding. For Eddie Murphy, the proof is in the paternity test.

The Dreamgirls star was seen entering a Beverly Hills doctor's office Monday where he reportedly underwent a paternity test to determine whether he is the father of his ex-girlfriend Melanie Brown's baby, as she has claimed.

Murphy assured photographers waiting outside the clinic that he would "absolutely…do the right thing" by Brown and the infant if the test comes back positive, according to paparazzi agency Splash News.

The actor's spokesman, Arnold Robinson, does not comment on Murphy's personal life.

Earlier in the day, Brown dropped by the same office with her two-month-old daughter, Angel Iris Murphy Brown, presumably to have the child undergo a DNA test of her own.

There is no word on when the results will be revealed.

The former Spice Girl (aka Mel B, Scary Spice) has never swayed from her assertion that Murphy was responsible for impregnating her, and has even claimed the conception was planned.

"There is absolutely no question that Eddie is the father," she said in December, shortly after Murphy told a Dutch TV reporter not to "jump to conclusions" on the matter.

"We don't know whose child that is until it comes out and has a blood test," Murphy said at the time.

Despite his apparent endorsement of having the baby tested to determine her paternity, Murphy was apparently in no rush to give up a sample of his own DNA.

Last month, Brown announced plans to sue her former paramour, claiming he had ignored repeated requests to be tested against the child.

"He's not doing a DNA test, and he's not signing the birth certificate," she told People. "So, it's going to have to go to court, so he can be forced to do it, which is strange since he was the one asking for it."

If it is determined that Murphy is indeed Angel Iris' father, she will be the sixth child for the actor, who has five children with his ex-wife Nicole Mitchell.

Aside from the infant, Brown has an eight-year-old daughter from her marriage to Dutch dancer Jimmy Gulzar.
