DUI Charge for "Growing Pains" Star

Tracey Gold is facing possible jail time for her alleged role in an SUV rollover crash that authorities say banged up her family.

Prosecutors in Ventura County, California, on Thursday filed a trio of felony charges against the former Growing Pains star.

Gold, 35, stands accused of causing injury while driving under the influence, driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol level exceeding California's 0.08 limit, and felony child endangerment, Ventura County Senior Deputy District Attorney Kim Gibbons said.

It wasn't known what authorities were alleging Gold tested on the blood-alcohol meter. "I can't talk about that right now," Gibbons said.

The charges were filed under the actress' married name, Tracey Gold Marshall.

An arraignment was set for Oct. 19, three days after Gold is to be seen on ABC in the reunion TV-movie, Growing Pains: Return of the Seavers.

Gold costarred on the 1985-1992 sitcom as Carol Seaver, the book-smart daughter who, in one Very Special Episode, lost a boyfriend (played by Matthew Perry) to a drunken-driving crash.

If convicted of the charges facing her, Gold could be sentenced up to five years in state prison, Gibbons said.

Given that this is the first time Gold has faced DUI allegations, "the judge [would] take that into consideration" should sentencing occur, Gibbons said.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Gold was at the wheel of a GMC Yukon, driving along Highway 118 in Moorpark, California, when she lost control of the sports utility vehicle and careened off the road, her vehicle rolling over.

The CHP said Gold's husband, Roby Marshall, 39, sustained a neck injury, her 7-year-old son, Sage, a broken collarbone, and her 5-year-old son, Bailey, some cuts. The fourth passenger in the SUV, Gold and Marshall's four-month-old infant son, Aidan, was said to be unhurt.

Gold herself reportedly sustained no physical injury.

"Everybody's fine now," Berk said of Gold and her family.

The ex-sitcom star was taken into custody at the scene. She was freed the next day on $50,000 bail, but not before her booking photo was preserved for posterity on The Smoking Gun.

Gold has spent nearly 30 of her 35 years in prime time, specializing in woman-in-peril TV movies.
