As with all new shows, we had no idea what to expect with Duets.

Obviously, we knew it would include hopeful singers taking the stage with either Kelly Clarkson, Robin Thicke, Jennifer Nettles or John Legend, but what makes this series different than all the other singing competitons? And was there real talent found?

How dare you even ask that question? Of course there was!

Each superstar roamed across America to find two people they wanted on their team to perform duets with each week. The remaining stars would then give a score based on performance and presentation. The score card is continuously shown to reveal where everyone is ranked. Oh, and the winner of it all will get a recording contract with Hollywood Records.

Whew, now that we got all that down, let's discuss who chose who and who sang what.

After getting a glimpse of the four celebs searching for their special two hopefuls, we got to meet eight lucky contenders.

J Rome and John Glosson join Nettles, Johnny Gray and Bridget Carrington link with Legend, Alexis Foster and Olivia Chisholm team up with Thicke and lastly, Jordan Meredith  and Jason Farol were chosen by Clarkson.

On tonight's episode, each professional crooner took the stage with one of their teammates and belted one of their own hits, but the song selection will differ each week.

Once all was said sang and done, Nettles' J Rome—who the other stars felt shared a strong connection with the country crooner—took the top spot, while both of Clarkson's singers were the bottom two. What this means (possible elimination?) isn't exactly clear; the show was pretty vague about those things we reality-show fans like to call "the rules."

We'll have to wait until next Thursday to find out if they can step it up.
