The self-proclaimed King of All Media has just been crowned the new judge on America's Got Talent.
After weeks of speculation, NBC confirmed the news today after Howard Stern revealed on his Sirius XM radio show this morning that he indeed got the gig.
"I'm going to be Piers [Morgan] on steroids," Stern told his listeners, referring to the exiting judge that he's replacing on the show. "I'm really excited about it. I feel I have something to contribute to the show."
So excited, apparently, that Stern actually had his agent, Don Buchwald, bring the contract into the studio for him to sign on the air.
Stern went on to share with sidekick Robin Quivers what he told producers prior to taking the job as to what they, and the contestants, could expect from him as a judge.
"I told them that the show has a little too much nonsense," he said. "First of all, when these very young children come on, I'm going to want to talk to these mothers who march them out there. You know, they've got to be prepared to lose and they've got to be prepared to hear the truth. Don't call me a scumbag because I'm going to tell your kid he has no talent. I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, but feelings are going to get hurt."
He added that "this nonsense of Howie [Mandel] and Sharon [Osbourne] putting through less than talented people has got to stop and, under my administration, there will be no Frank Sinatra impersonators winning for the year."
Meanwhile, Morgan said via Twitter that he's looking forward to seeing Stern in his seat.
"Congrats to Howard Stern on landing my America's Got Talent judging gig," Morgan tweeted. "He'll be outrageous, hilarious, dangerous & brilliant. Can't wait."
And now fellow judge Mandel also expressed excitement over Stern coming on board.
"I have been a Stern fan for decades so it should come as no surprise to anyone to say I'm thrilled," he tells E! News. "The excitement I'm feeling about the prospect of working with Howard is overshadowing the Golden Globe nomination."
The network also pointed out that the production of the talent competition's live shows will take place in New York City, so that Stern can continue with his radio program.
"Howard Stern's larger-than-life personality will bring a thrilling new dynamic to America's Got Talent, starting this summer," NBC programming exec Paul Telegdy said in a statement. "He's a proven innovator and his track record in broadcasting is truly remarkable. Howard is very passionate about this show and is fully committed to its future success."
Taping of the auditions for America's Got Talent's seventh season, with Stern on the panel, will reportedly begin in February.
