The Donald Donates a Park

Let's see, there's Trump Plaza, Trump Towers, the Trump Taj Mahal, Trump University and...Trump Park?

In yet another beautiful bit of branding from America's most illustrious billionaire developer, Donald Trump has announced his donation of 436 acres of pristine property due north of New York City to be turned into a new state park named in his honor.

The real estate mogul and Governor George Pataki announced the gift at a press conference Wednesday morning in Manhattan, calling the new Donald J. Trump State Park a much-welcomed addition of green space that will offer New Yorkers an opportunity to tap into their inner Thoreau, while protecting the scenic beauty of the Hudson Valley.

"With the establishment of Donald J. Trump State Park, we will increase public access to scenic landscapes and recreational opportunities for families and visitors to the region," Pataki said.

The park joins two pieces of property in Westchester and Putnam Counties--a 282-acre Indian Hill parcel located in Putnam Valley and Yorktown and a 154-acre site at French Hill in Yorktown. The open space features a mix of heavily wooded land, large open meadows and a centrally located 20-acre wetland containing two headwater streams, Dogwood Creek and French Hill Brook.

Added the Donald: "I have always loved the city and state of New York and this is my way of trying to give something back. I hope that these 436 acres of property will turn into one of the most beautiful parks anywhere in the world."

This isn't the first time Trump's put his vast riches to good use for the benefit of the public. A few years ago, the business titan stepped in and financed the Big Apple's restoration of the Wollman Ice Skating Rink in Central Park after city officials failed to get the job done.

When he's not trumping donations or hosting NBC's The Apprentice--which is about to start filming its sixth season in Southern California--Trump is on diaper duty, helping model-wife Melania Knauss care for their first child together (and Trump's fifth overall), Barron William Trump, who was born one month ago.

He's also been keeping up with his various investments, including wining and dining some 200 business associates by hiring rapper Wyclef Jean to headline a concert last Friday night at the Trump International Hotel & Tower in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
