"Domino" Death an OD

Domino Harvey's made-for-the-movies life didn't quite have a Hollywood ending.

The British beauty, who gave up a life of glitz to become a bounty hunter in South-Central Los Angeles, and in turn inspired director Tony Scott's upcoming thriller, Domino, died of an accidental painkiller overdose, the Los Angeles County coroner's office has ruled.

According to the coroner's report, Harvey, 35, exhibited extremely high levels of fentanyl--a painkiller more potent than morphine--in her heart, blood and liver at the time of her death on June 27. Harvey reportedly had been taking a number of antidepressants prescribed by her psychiatrist, but fentanyl wasn't one of them.

"No other toxicological or natural disease process is present to explain the death," the coroner wrote. The report stated her death was the result of "acute fentanyl toxicity" that's "typically seen in fatal overdoses." The coroner ruled out foul play.

Harvey was born into a family of wealth and privilege, the daughter of late British actor Lawrence Harvey of Manchurian Candidate fame and her mother was Vogue model Pauline Stone. But the younger Harvey turned her back on the good life and became a bounty hunter.

She also had her share of trouble. In May she was busted in a drug-trafficking sting in Mississippi and placed on house arrest. She was awaiting trial on federal charges in that case when she was discovered unconscious in the bathtub of her Hollywood apartment by a caretaker hired to keep tabs on her. She was rushed by paramedics to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. (The coroner noted in his report that despite her being found in a tub, "drowning did not play a role in this death.")

Scott shot additional scenes following Harvey's arrest, but didn't plan to tweak the film after Harvey's death. The film Domino stars Keira Knightley in the title role and embellishes Harvey's backstory, depcting her as a former model, a nightclub operator, a firefighter and the inspiration for a reality TV series.

Christopher Walken, Mickey Rourke, Jacqueline Bisset, Lucy Liu, Mena Suvari and Macy Gray costar in the New Line release, which was initially scheduled to bow on Aug. 19, but was pushed back to Oct. 14 after Harvey's death. It will also make its world premiere closing out the inaugural Montreal FilmFest on Sept. 25.
