Does Newlywed Kellie Pickler Want to Be a Mom?

Kellie Pickler isn't looking to trade in her red high heels for a pair of baby booties anytime soon.

While chatting with Cody Allen from CMT Radio, the country cutie was invariably asked the question that one often hears after getting married.

You know, the good old baby inquiry.

Pickler reveals during the interview (airing today) that while she and new husband Kyle Jacobs have decided to hold off on becoming parents right now, she feels confident that if the stork arrived tomorrow the two of them would be able to deal with it.

"I take that very seriously, and when Kyle and I are ready, then we will maybe cross that bridge if it ever gets there," she says. "Maybe life gives us a surprise, but we're married and we have stability in our lives, so if that does happen we are prepared."

But the American Idol alum also stresses "the responsibility that comes along with it."

"It's almost like a fad," Pickler says. "I don't know what's gotten into these kids where they feel like they have got to have a baby because their friend has one or whatever. They don't take into consideration that it's a very selfish thing to do if you're not prepared and ready."

Something, sadly, we all know way too much about.
