DMX Guns for Trouble

DMX continues to make more noise for his rap sheet than his rap beats.

Marking his umpteenth run-in with the law, the Grand Champ hip-hopster has been rung up on a weapon charge in Scottsdale, Arizona.

A spokesman for the Scottsdale Police Department said officers witnessed DMX placing a pistol under the front seat of his 1964 Chevrolet convertible outside a local nightclub called Buzz on June 16. The 35-year-old rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, received a misdemeanor citation for failing to have a permit for a concealed weapon. He was not taken into custody.

The infraction will likely result in a small fine but no jail time. Reps for Simmons could not be reached for comment.

It seems wherever DMX goes, trouble follows.

Earlier this month, the Ruff Ryder was stopped by police in Harrison, New York, for some rough driving. His Chevy Suburban allegedly bumped another vehicle while trying to make a lane change. Simmons was ticketed for driving without a license and not wearing a seatbelt.

Apparently he doesn't like feeling contrained because just two weeks before that, the X man was arrested at London's Heathrow Airport after allegedly causing a ruckus on a Britain-bound flight after refusing to put on his seat belt. Upon arriving at the international terminal, DMX was taken into custody, but was ultimately let go with a warning (the incident will also be noted on his permanent record).

But the rapper-actor's law-bending ways don't stop there.

In 2004, the entertainer was busted for plowing his SUV through a security gate at New York's JFK Airport and then telling bystanders he was an undercover federal agent. DMX pleaded guilty and wound up serving a brief jail sentence.

Other offenses on his résumé include an arrest last year for driving with a suspended license in the Bronx after his SUV accidentally triggered a chain reaction crash that included a police cruiser. For that, he was slapped with a fine and brief jail term, which he served concurrently with the aforementioned sentence.

Musically, after getting sprung earlier this year, DMX signed a three-album deal with Sony Urban aimed at softening his hard-core image. His next CD, Year of the Dog, Again, drops on Aug. 29.
